Best Cookbooks of 2010:
A List of Lists

It’s the last day of 2010, and like many of you, we’re taking a look back specifically, a look back at the lists of best cookbooks from this year. With the deluge of end-of-year lists that came out over the past weeks, we likely lost track of one or two, so the following is by no means an exhaustive or systematic list of lists. Still, these 13 best of lists include many of the recipe-packed, idea-inspiring cookbooks from 2010.

Although we’ve been publishing Cooks&Books&Recipes for only five months, several of our featured cookbooks are included in the lists below, along with at least four cookbooks that are scheduled to be highlighted in the weeks to come.

Joan E. Aller, Cider Beans, Wild Greens, and Dandelion Jelly: Recipes from Southern Appalachia (Andrews McMeel Publishing)

Dorie Greenspan, Around My French Table: More Than 300 Recipes from My Home to Yours, photographs by Alan Richardson Styler (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt)

Simone and Inés Ortega, The Book of Tapas (Phaidon Press)

James Villas, Pig: King of the Southern Table, photography by Lucy Schaeffer (John Wiley & Sons)

Grace Young, Stir-Frying to the Sky’s Edge: The Ultimate Guide to Mastery, with Authentic Recipes and Stories (Simon & Schuster)

And coming soon (with recipes, of course!) on Cooks&Books&Recipes:

  • Shauna James Ahern and Daniel Ahern, Gluten-Free Girl and the Chef: A Love Story with 100 Tempting Recipes (John Wiley & Sons)
  • Pam Anderson, Perfect One-Dish Dinners: All You Need for Easy Get-Togethers, photographs by Judd Pilossof (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt)
  • Melissa Clark, In the Kitchen with a Good Appetite: 150 Recipes & Stories about the Food You Love (Hyperion)
  • Sur La Table and Janet Fletcher, Eating Local: The Cookbook Inspired by America’s Farmers (Andrews McMeel Publishing)

Of these C&B&R-featured cookbooks, the one mentioned most often (9 times) in the best of lists below is Dorie Greenspan’s Around My French Table, followed (with 6 mentions) by Melissa Clark’s In the Kitchen with a Good Appetite.
