Today’s Recipe:
Kreplach (Chicken Dumplings)
Cookbook: The Mile End Cookbook: Redefining Jewish Comfort Food from Hash to Hamantaschen, by Noah Bernamoff and Rae Bern

No, I haven’t tried this recipe. Jewish comfort food is outside my current cooking comfort zone. I do know, however, that chicken soup should have matzo balls, right? But this version, from the cookbook by Noah and Rae Bernamoff, owners of Mile End, a “Montreal-style Jewish deli in Brooklyn, New York,” uses store-bought wonton wrappers to envelope a filling of chicken meat, chicken skin, and chicken livers. I gotta say: that does sound simpler. If any of my expert-cook readers try this one, I’d love to hear what you think. Better yet, can you bring by a bowl next winter when I have a cold? Something tells me this soup would comfort anyone, anytime, in any zone.
