What is Cooks&Books&Recipes?

By highlighting selected recipes from current cookbooks, Cooks&Books&Recipes helps cookbook readers and cooks discover and get a feel for cookbooks that have been published recently or that will be available soon. Publication and purchasing information is included for each cookbook. In addition, Cooks&Books&Recipes will soon be featuring recipes from some of our favorite restaurants around the country and from chefs in various cities. Who are we?

We (the editors) love food. And cooking. And cookbooks. We are not food experts. Or trained chefs. Or cookbook authors. Our recipe reviews come from the perspective of busy people with full-time jobs and family responsibilities. We may not be able to get all the right ingredients or cook the dish exactly as specified, but we’ll let you know how it turned out. Often we’ll even share our non-professional photos of those results. And to help us fill in the culinary gaps, we have the help of “Cooks&Books&Recipes Cooks” — friends and colleagues who have experience, jobs, and websites/blogs in specialty areas of interest to us and to our readers. Do we receive free cookbooks in return for favorable reviews?

Yes, publishers send us cookbooks. No, we are under no obligation either to review every cookbook or to publish a favorable review. If a cookbook recipe doesn’t work, we’ll try it again or we’ll try another one. If we strike out, we won’t feature the cookbook. All opinions expressed here are those of the Cooks&Books&Recipes editors or the Cooks&Books&Recipes Cooks. (We receive no monetary compensation, though the site does contain affiliate links for which we receive a small percentage of resulting sales.)

Will we publish other reviews of the recipes?
