Summer cooking? As I write this, the always-reliable weather forecasters here in the Phoenix, Arizona, area are predicting temperatures of 118-120 degrees Fahrenheit over the next several days. That’s hot, even by our standards. Way too hot to be in the kitchen.
The official first day of summer is today: Monday, June 20! Let’s give it a warm welcome (pun intended). You’re probably experiencing the heat wherever you are — or you will be soon. Time to stay cool inside: keep the oven turned off, the fans turned on. As the sun starts to set and the temperature drops a bit outside, fire up the grill.
Don’t worry about what to cook, we’ve got you covered. Over the next six weeks — through the end of July — Cooks&Books&Recipes is dedicating its Monday, Fun-Day Giveaways to cookbooks for summer. You don’t have to win the cookbooks to score: we’re also publishing perfect-for-summer recipes from all the cookbooks featured here.
In the meantime, I’m closing the curtains, lowering the blinds, turning on the AC, and popping the (microwave) popcorn for some all-day, indoor movie marathons. And I’m hoping the weather forecasters are wrong.
2 Cookbooks & 3 Recipes
We’re kicking off our six weeks of summer cooking with a giveaway of two cookbooks for grilling. You’ll have enough recipes to get through Labor Day.

Even if you don’t win the cookbooks, you can still cook up the perfect summer grilling dinner with these three sample recipes:
There are seven ways to enter the giveaway, but it’s not necessary to do all seven entries. Choose whichever one(s) you like, and you’ll be entered in the giveaway. The winner, to be randomly selected and notified by e-mail, must claim the cookbook within 10 days. Giveaway ends on Monday, July 4, 2016. U.S. addresses, 18+ years of age only.
Disclosure: We receive cookbooks for possible inclusion on Cooks&Books&Recipes, though we make no promise that all books received will be posted on the site. We highlight those cookbooks that we feel will interest our readers. We also choose which cookbooks to include in our Featured Partner program. All opinions are our own.
