San Francisco Entertains
San Francisco Entertains is the latest and fourth cookbook produced by The Junior League of San Francisco (JLSF), celebrating its centennial in 2011. Past cookbooks have won the Tastemaker Award and have been nominated for the Seagram’s Award (now IACP).
The first JLSF cookbook since 1999, San Francisco Entertains features delicious recipes from top local restaurants and chefs such as Chef Gary Danko (Restaurant Gary Danko), Chuck Williams (founder of Williams-Sonoma), Chef Michael Chiarello (Bottega, Napa Valley), Jennie Lorenzo (Fifth Floor), and Chef Ryan Scott (Ryan Scott 2 Go).
Nearly 500 recipes were triple-tested; the winning selections represent the city’s fresh and flavorful cuisine. They include local and historic recipes with a twist, accompanied by enticing menu options and beverage pairings, ideal for both new and experienced cooks. Examples include Wine Country Guacamole, Red Snapper and Green Apple Ceviche (photo), Pancetta-Studded Beef Tenderloin, Ancho Chile Brownies, and Blackberry Cornmeal Cake.
With each of the 10 chapters showcasing a different decade in San Francisco, the book contains gorgeous color images of the dishes and iconic images of the city.
All proceeds from the sale of San Francisco Entertains enable the JLSF to support its mission statement and focus area, which is to Support and Strengthen Families in Need. The cookbook can be purchased at http://www.sfentertains.jlsf.org
