I Love Cinnamon Rolls!
Publisher: Andrews McMeel Publishing
Nothing says comfort food like a batch of cinnamon rolls fresh from the oven. Here you’ll find 50 recipes for a variety of sticky buns everyone will love, from traditional favorites such as Orange-Toffee, Pumpkin Streusel, or Coffee-Maple Glazed Cinnamon Rolls to more exotic flavors, such as Moroccan Rose Petal Cinnamon Rolls or Szechuan Pepper Cinnamon Rolls with Fresh Ginger Glaze. Also included are traditional recipes from Sweden, Germany, the Netherlands, France, and other countries.
Best of all, the eight dough recipes and the variety of fillings and glazes allow you to mix and match recipe parts and devise your own special creations. There are even whole wheat, vegan, and gluten-free doughs so no one has to miss out on these tempting treats. And don’t be daunted by thinking it takes too much time and effort. Bakers of every skill level are covered with recipes for easy, no-knead, and bread machine doughs.
Who doesn’t love cinnamon rolls?? Judith Fertig, the talented recipe-creator behind numerous cookbooks such as Heartland and The Artisan Bread Machine (among many others), turns her attention to the classic sticky buns in I Love Cinnamon Rolls! (Andrews McMeel Publishing). My first thought was that there couldn’t be that many ways to make a cinnamon roll. Wrong! From Mexican Chocolate Cinnamon Rolls to Tarte Tatin Cinnamon Rolls with Creme Fraiche to Whole-Wheat Pumpkin Pecan Cinnamon Crowns to Franzbrotchen — and with eight dough recipes including vegan and gluten-free — the aroma of cinnamon will be filling your kitchen week after week.
There is no way I can choose only one recipe, but high on my list are the Moroccan Rose Petal Cinnamon Rolls: the flavor of rose, the heat of pepper, and the spiciness of cinnamon rolled together within thin strudel dough. Plus, they’re gorgeous! You can find the recipe, get a behind-the-scenes look at a cookbook photo shoot, and see the finished photo (thanks to photographer Ben Pieper and food stylist Trina Kahl) on Fertig’s blog here.
