Monday, Fun-Day Cookbook Giveaway: Grill School
Since July is U.S. National Grilling Month, we’re heading back to the grill for your Monday, Fun-Day Cookbook Giveaway. And we’re returning to the grilling experts: Dave Joachim and Andrew Schloss. Grill School: 100+ Recipes and Essential Lessons for Cooking on Fire is the just-released (June 2016) guide from the co-authors of Fire It Up: More Than 400 Recipes for Grilling Everything. Yes, this creative duo is offering 100 more recipes for your grill.
Here’s why you want Grill School:
You’ll love the new recipes. But Grill School is so much more than recipes. It features 30 lessons sprinkled throughout–for example, “Tough Cuts” and “Poultry Pieces.” One chapter details the eight fundamental and “foolproof” (that word is necessary for me) grilling techniques, including direct/indirect grilling and smoking. Another chapter covers equipment. The remaining chapters are organized by main ingredient and type of dish. Perhaps my favorite aspect is the numerous “Extra Credit” tips (e.g., “If using farmed salmon, choose a whole fillet instead of the whole fish”). So if you want to become a true grill master, pick up this guide and get your schooling started.
The Cookbook Basics:
Hardcover (7.75 x 10.25 inches)
100+ recipes; numerous full-page color photos (by Ray Kachatorian)
Weldon Owen (June 2016)

Serendipity magazine features four recipes from Grill School. Make them all, and you’ll have an entire grilled dinner: Grilled Eggplant with Tahini and Pomegranate; Grilled Romaine Salad with Anchovy-Mustard Vinaigrette; Garlic-Crusted T-Bone with Gorgonzola Butter; Grilled S’mores Doughnuts.
There are seven ways to enter the giveaway, but it’s not necessary to do all seven entries. Choose whichever one(s) you like, and you’ll be entered in the giveaway. The winner, to be randomly selected and notified by e-mail, must claim the cookbook within 10 days. Giveaway ends on Monday, August 1, 2016. U.S. addresses, 18+ years of age only.
And the winner is … Susan S.!
